1. Sit in a high back chair. 2. Read the label of the eye drops to ensure it is the correct drop and the number of drops to put in each eye. 3. To insert drop into the "right" eye, tip head slightly back and tilt head towards the left shoulder. 4. The dropper bottle should be in your right hand and in a position ready to administer drop. 5. Using your left hand, pull down the lower lid margin with your index finger to form a pouch in the lower eye area. 6. Squeeze on dropper bottle and drop the appropriate number of drops into the pouch without letting the bottle tip touch your eye or eyelid. Close your eyes but do not blink. 7. Repeat with the left eye. This time tilt head towards the right shoulder. 8. Before opening your eyes, remove excess solution from closed eyelid using clean tissue.
9. Close eyes for approximately 60 seconds to allow absorption of the drops or apply pressure gently to the inner corners of the eye. 10. Wait at least 5 minutes before administering other forms of eye drop medication.
